Masterful and not without seriousness, the subtle rhythm of Katua opens up any space. The circumferential set off color band creates a refined play of contrasts and allows Katua particularly binding spatial interventions.
PRODUCT INFORMATION
The colors of our rugs may differ from the illustrations on this website. We therefore recommend ordering material/color samples before making the final purchase decision. The samples have a format of 12 × 12 cm per color and correspond to the technical structure of our rugs. Our material/color samples provide a binding color and haptic impression of the later product.
Example: If you are interested in a certain color variant of a rug, in which, for example, four colors are used, then you will receive a set of four individual sample pieces of 12 × 12 cm each.
We charge a rental fee of € 25.00 per color set. You can return the color samples to us* within 30 days of receipt and the rental fee will be refunded. If you do not return the color samples to us within 30 days, a contract of sale is created for the ordered color samples and we retain the rental fee as the purchase amount.
Please Note: We are currently revising our sample ordering function. Until then, material/color samples can simply be ordered by email. Please let us know the product number or the name of the rug including the color variant number.
The shipment of the samples takes about 3 to 5 working days within Germany and about 5 to 10 days abroad. For shipping we charge € 5.00 within Germany and € 10.00 abroad.
*For shipments within Germany, a free return voucher will be enclosed with the shipment.

Our rugs are manufactured on-demand in a small family business in North Rhine-Westphalia using the robotic tufting process. Only what is ordered is produced — overproduction is therefore ruled out. In this resource-saving manufacturing process, the yarn is machine-stitched into a stretched backing cloth and then permanently fixed into the fabric by hand with water-based acrylic binder. For a particularly high durability of the rug, a second coating is additionally reinforced with a cotton fabric. After being cut out of the frame, the rug is carefully sheared to obtain an even rug surface. Finally, the folded edges of the backing cloth are laminated on the underside with a cotton textile tape.
In the production of our sustainable products, innovative, automated processes are combined with a multitude of handicraft steps carried out by skilled rug experts.
Incidentally, all partners and suppliers involved in the creation process of our rugs are highly specialised small and medium-sized companies from Germany.

The pile material of our rugs consists of 100% mulesing-free new wool from New Zealand cross-breed sheep. These are kept under the criteria of the so-called »five freedoms of animal welfare«, a sustainable form of husbandry that consistently pays attention to the welfare of farm animals.
The high-quality raw wool is processed into rug yarn in a traditional spinning mill in Lower Saxony and dyed in an environmentally friendly and lightfast way by a first-class dyeing plant in Hesse, which ensures that it retains its vibrant colors for a long time.
Wool fibres, by the way, have a whole range of positive properties, especially for use in living spaces: among other things, they regulate moisture, insulate against temperature and sound, are antistatic and flame-retardant. People with dust allergies can also benefit greatly from wool in the living room, especially in the form of dense cut pile rugs, as these are particularly good at absorbing dust.
We deliberately do not use chemical moth repellents in our yarn. This is not only good for the environment, but also protects the sensitive health of babies who may be playing on the rugs. Domestic cats should also not be exposed to chemical moth protection, as they lack the appropriate enzyme to break down the active ingredient, which in turn can lead to serious damage to their health.
Our dispersion acrylic binder for fixing the yarn in the carrier textile is water-based, free of softeners, odourless, very low in emissions and flame retardant. For a particularly high durability of the rug, a second coating is additionally reinforced with a cotton fabric. Our backing cloth is a particularly tear-resistant polyester fabric which, unlike natural fibre cloths, perfectly meets the mechanical requirements of the robot tufting process. The special fabric properties also ensure a long service life for our products. At the edge of the backing, our rugs are given a cotton backing tape.

Basically, our rugs are robust and easy to clean. We recommend vacuuming the rug once or several times a week, depending on the degree of use. This usually removes all traces of use and fully restores the pile fibres so that the strong colors and graphic shapes of the rug surface are shown to their best advantage.
Cut pile rugs usually produce more lint during the first few weeks of use. However, this does not affect the quality or life of the rug in any way. It simply requires more frequent vacuuming of the rug during the first few weeks.
By the way, our rugs are manufactured without the use of chemical moth protection. Regular vacuuming of the entire rug surface is therefore also a simple and effective protection against moths and other pests.
